Every sire we've used since 2016 — walking bulls and AI alike — chosen for structure, phenotype and a soft, easy-doing type, on a foundation of proven genetics.

We've never chased a name for the sake of it. Each sire here was brought in to do a job — add thickness, clean up udders and feet, lift carcass, or hold the structure and softness we won't compromise on. Below is the full line-up, from our current sires back to where the rebuild began in 2016.

We bought Ooerator after touring around and seeing a lot of good cattle with L103 in the pedigree — a bull we hadn't used initially. Lancelot is still in so many pedigrees every time we find a good one, and Ooerator is doing the same here.

His combination with our Pacemaker daughters was a real standout in our Autumn calving, and something I'll be doing a lot more of over the next few years. Ooerator will be our lead walking bull this Autumn and Spring.

We used a small amount of semen by Thumper's sire — Robert Redford, a Herefords Australia Super Sire — and saw him breeding well with everyone using him. The chance to buy a Redford son out of the high-selling Kymarney cow Regal Q002 was very exciting: she's a huge-hipped cow with a heap of stretch and a great udder. We love the hip setup and angulation in Thumper, and that was the main factor in choosing him.

Thumper has cattle on the ground here at joining age now, and we're finding them at the top of the drafts in both the bull and female mobs.

We bought Pacemaker the year of Covid after looking for a Techno son for two years. Out of one of the best cows at Grathlyn, he was the exact bull we were looking for.

Pacemaker has bred on better than we could have hoped — breeding us the core of our herd with great feet, and really cleaning up udders and teat size on our older cows. He's bred most of our success in the show and sale ring, and is still a walking sire here at Llandillo at the age of 8.

After using a small amount of Tarcombe McLaren — a Hereford Society Super Sire — through semen, we decided a walking son of his would be great over our heifers. If we have a fault, it's probably not chasing figures because we're so conscious of structure and phenotype; Tomahawk had the loose skin and thickness and a set of numbers.

Unfortunately Tomahawk got injured and we only got the one year out of him, but the heifers are growing out nicely at this stage.

We paid $30,000 for Tedesco — our biggest investment in a walking sire — and he's delivering. The Queenscliff sons are working well in a lot of different programs right now, and we liked what we saw when we went looking for one. Tedesco's dam Climax M149 is owner Ben's favourite cow at Tycolah and one of the best milkers in the herd.

We selected him for his great length and body, and the milk in his dam's side was a big part of the decision. His first calvers are here now with picture perfect udders — exactly what we were after.

Ready Ready was Grand Champion Bull at Sydney Royal in 2022. He's sired by Llandillo Nifty — who we kept as our lead bull, but he got injured early in our first joining season and we only got a handful of calves — and out of our donor cow, Aster N075.

Ready Ready bred a group of big-framed heifers that are calving here now with beautiful udders just like his mum. He was used from 2022 to 2024 before being sold on to a commercial buyer.

We used Spark as an AI sire to flush two of our best cows, and kept Principality to breed from. He's out of one of the best cows to ever live at Llandillo — as you'll see across our site, B40 was hugely influential.

Principality was used from 2021 to 2023. His daughters were part of our 2024 female sale, which averaged $4,700 across all 35 heifers, and we're getting great feedback from clients as they calve down.

Powershift is an embryo calf by an imported heifer bull — Ultimate 236Z, which we only secured 10 straws of — out of a fan favourite in Aster F189. He was kept as a backup heifer bull.

He's left us a small group of very soft heifers with beautiful udders. Look out for our best X-drop bull calf, coming out of a Powershift daughter.

We bought Montgomery after seeing his sire at Sydney Royal a few years before and following his progress. He was an extremely thick bull with a huge eye muscle that still had stretch and balance.

Although Monty's calves weren't as even a type as we would have liked, the good ones were very good — with most of those cows still in the herd today.

We bought Lancefield after seeing 10Y working so well in multiple studs — he was the best son we could find from a stud breeding the type we like, consistently.

Lancefield worked extremely well for us. When he was identified as an MD carrier we made the call to stop using him, but his daughters have stayed in the herd as some of our most sound and consistent performers.

We secured 100 straws in Lips T147 from New Zealand and have used them all — most of his calves are due this spring with the remainder coming next autumn. We're watching this drop with a lot of excitement.

Paul Durkin of Koanui described his dam Amethyst Q100 as the best Hereford cow he has ever seen. His sire Layer P028 has been breeding well here in Australia. A New Zealand bull with serious credentials on both sides of his pedigree — exactly what we were looking for to cross over our Pacemaker-based females.

The best bull we have bred at Llandillo. Soldier was Champion of Champions at Canberra Royal Show in 2023 — a result that confirmed what we already knew about him. He sold at Dubbo for $17,000 to Kyan Poll Herefords, the top price bull we have bred.

Soldier has been used here as an AI sire over heifers, and his first daughters are due to calve this spring. A Pacemaker son out of our Corrisande P19 — everything about his background says his progeny will be structurally correct, soft and functional. Semen available — see our For Sale page.

We secured a limited parcel of semen in NJW Ridge and have used it all — but his progeny are only beginning to come through at Llandillo. Every one of them is thick and powerful, with the kind of presence you'd expect from an American bull of his calibre.

Ridge daughters including Llandillo Corrisande V213 and Llandillo Vanessa U126 are now in the herd and will be representing his influence for years to come. A bull worth knowing when you see his name in a Llandillo pedigree.

We had the opportunity to secure the Australian semen rights to Columbus. The thickness and carcass in this bull was something we needed and couldn't particularly find in Australia at the time.

What we didn't know then was that Columbus would really clean up udders on our females as well. You'll still see his influence in our breeding program today — a fair few Columbus daughters still here on good feet with well-attached udders.
